Students of the three participant countries used the Europeana platform and, while working together, they tried to highlight significant harbours of their regions, learn about harbours’ history, be aware of their role in people’s life improving their skills in English language and ICT.
Europeana is a platform with more than 58,059,677 artworks, artefacts, books, films and music from European museums, galleries, libraries and archives. It is based on an initiative with the following mission: "We transform the world with culture. We build on Europe’s rich cultural heritage and make it easier for people to use for work, learning or pleasure. Our work contributes to an open, knowledgeable and creative society."
Angeliki, Natavan and Irene chose one of the Europeana's galleries with the title: "Trawelers, harbours and fishing communities" to work on collaboratively, because each one of our cities that we live and work in Greece, Italy and Azarbaijan has a harbour that we would like to learn about and highlight it as an important landmark of our Cultural Heritage that we should preserve it.

All the existent harbours that we have in our cities, in Greece, Azerbaijan and Catania-Italy have a long history. Of course they weren't created yesterday...They were constructed many many years ago and throughout all these years lots of changes have happened to declare that they are active landmarks full of life.
"Trawlers, harbours and fishing communities", one of Europeana's galleries will help us start this journey to the past.

History: In this chapter, students visited the gallery and while exploring the photos that exist in the gallery tried to answer questions related to the photos and in comparison with their cities harbours. They created threads in the Twinboard and discussed also about migration reflecting in the forum.
Students in Greece after visiting Europeana's gallery and reflected on the photos they see there, started exploring their city's harbour and working in teams they prepared a timeline, a ppt presentation (in Greek) and two exhibitions using material from Europeana and Alexandroupolis

They worked also in chain researching the partner countries harbours and presented their work in the classroom.
Before starting their work in transnational groups, they worked in National teams and they really enjoyed it a lot!!

Their presentation joined afterwards the ones from Catania-Italy and Azerbaijan!
Harbours lighthouses:We can not talk about harbours if we don't mention their lighthouses. Each harbour's history is connected with a lighthouse, built years ago playing an important role for people and ships, giving its light, standing there as a significant meeting point!Europeana's photos and our familiar gallery: Trawlers, harbours and fishing communities helped us again.
In this chapter we worked in transnational teams, according to students interests, focusing on lighthouses history.
Students visited Europeana's platform related to lighthouses, picked up a lighthouse and tried to answer to the following questions adding an item to the twinboard:

Students visited Europeana's platform related to lighthouses, picked up a lighthouse and tried to answer to the following questions adding an item to the twinboard:
- What do you see in this photo?
- What is the year that it refers?
- Who is the owner?
- What kind of information gives us?
- How it is connected with our city’s lighthouse
- Can you compare your city's lighthouse with the one of the photo and find differences and similarities?
Later on they created 5 transnational groups, according to their interests and start working collaboratively, uploading the result of their research to the Twinboards. History, Science, Photography, Art and Writers teams had a lot of work to do!!
The photographers also took the chance to shoot photos during our visit to the lighthouse, while the members of the other teams kept on gathering information during the interview with the lighthouse keeper.

Meanwhile the Writers transnational group brainstormed words related to lighthouses and students from Greece and Azerbaijan started writing a collaborative story while the students from Italy illustrated it. The result was an ebook with the title: "A bond of friendship"
The Art transnational groups had the chance to draw a common lighthouse starting from the base and finishing at the light during a videoconference using the idroo web2.0 tool. Meanwhile they drew also other lighthouses in paper.
Harbours Social life: Harbours were always connected with people and their life. Either they were met there as simple people doing their work, like fishermen, traders, sailors or like visitors who met at the harbours like tourists, migrants.... Europeana's photos and our familiar gallery: Trawlers, harbours and fishing communities helped us at this chapter as well.
In this chapter students worked again in transnational teams, but this time in different groups focusing on harbours social life. They even visited the harbours and interviewed parents and other people there.

Students from the three participant countries prepared an online dictionary for those who would like to know about words related to harbours. The dictionary is made in three native languages and in English.
They evaluated the project using google forms and they played a kahoot game having fun!!!
During a feast which was organized in our school to present the projects run this school year, "Shall we meet at the harbour?" was one of them, presented in a printed way to show the work done both by Greeks and the students from Azerbaijan and Italy and to demonstrate new strategies of teaching using Europeana.
Students worked hard to present their harbours inspired by Europeana's gallery:
