Travelers from Greece, Romania and Croatia decided to travel all along with some rivers which flow in our countries.
“I still keep coming here
To that old river
To find my roots just whereThe future lives forever.” -ScorpionsLyrics of the Scorpions' song is our basic motto!! Because our main goal is to cultivate the consciousness of an active European citizen while maintaining our national identity and strengthening our cultural self-knowledge.

Pupils in Greece as well as in Romania and Croatia listened to the Scorpions' song as an introduction to the project and they really enjoyed it!!!!
They created games to introduce famous rivers that Greece, Romania and Croatia have and what they have to teach while flowing.
They played the games in chain to guess the names.
Romania played the Greek game.
Croatia played the Romanian game.

NatGeo Mapmaker is very useful tool in case students and teachers want to use it for Geography (and not only) lessons.
It helped us to define rivers’ position in the European and in each country’s map. By clicking on the photo below, you can watch three representative videos related to our rivers: Evros (Greece), Cibin (Romania), Sava (Croatia).

Rivers are a vital part of a place. People can swim in a river, or take a walk by the river or go fishing...Pupils started brainstorming on how we could explore a river
The designed several logos for the project which exist in a smilebox presentation
Create a photo slideshow with Smilebox |
They, also gave their opinion voting for the best one!!
The winner logo came from Romania and it started representing our project to the Twinspace community.
How do you say it in your language?
Pupils from the three countries, Greece, Romania, Croatia, share terminology related to the rivers in their native language!!
How strange is to listen to our friends speaking in their language!

Looking at a map we can see that our rivers, Evros, Cibin and Savas, can cross over a city or a country. They can also be a physical border between countries to separate but at the same time to connect them. We can see people fishing at a river, walking, swimming....or just siting by the river and dream....
Pupils, in this chapter worked in transnational teams, imagining that they were pedestrians, bikers, hikers, fishermen, swimmers and river lovers. They made a geographical research about each country's river as well as pollution sources identification or pollution prevention and posted the results of research at the padlet of their team so as their partners from the other schools could learn more about the rivers.

How did a river get its name? What kind of civilizations arise in the presence of a river? Are there any myths, habits or traditions, tangible (paintings, musical instruments using water etc.) and intangible heritage (songs, pieces of writing, pieces of instrumental music etc,) which a river carry with, while it flows? Pupils, in this chapter kept on working in their transnational teams, imagining that they were pedestrians, bikers, hikers, fishermen, swimmers and river lovers.
They "met" their partners of the collaborative countries and while making a virtual walk or cycling along the river, fishing or swimming, they tried to search and be familiar with myths, habits, intangible and tangible heritage. They posted the results of their research into the related thread of the Historical research forum, on the Twinspace.

Pupils in Greece, Romania and Croatia joined their forces to write a common song inspired from the research they made to discover the three important rivers in their countires: Evros, Cibin and Savas. They used the meetingwords web2.0 tool and wrote the lyrics based on the Scorpions melody of the song: "Where the river flows
In the following video pupils from Greece tried to sing the song!
Enjoy watching them while trying to do their best!

As the river flows, it carries with its water myths and legends, hidden secrets, true or fantastic ones..... Pupils from Greece, Romania and Croatia tried to write their own stories about their famous rivers working collaboratively. Greece started a story about the river Evros, supposed to be finished by Croatian pupils, but finally the Romanian ones gave an end. The same happened with the Romanian story with river Cibin.
After 6 months of hard work during a school year dedicated to the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, we created a Cultural Framework for Heritage Rivers, as a result of our students' research who studied, analysed, evaluated and presented the three famous rivers from their countries: Evros (Greece), Cibin (Romania) and Sava (Croatia).

Pupils in Greece participated in the eTwinning projects' Celebration Day, where they had the chance to present the "Where the river flows" project to our schoolmates, teachers and parents mentioning all the collaborative work done with their partners from Romania and Croatia.
Geographical and Historical research, logos, stories and the collaborative dictionary was mentioned to prove that students from different countries, cultures and interests can work together to highlight elements pf our Natural Cultural Heritage.
